A Chuadanga court on Wednesday sentenced three people to death and a fourth man to two years in jail in a case for killing a battery-run autorickshaw driver in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga around 12 years ago.
Chuadanga Additional District and Sessions Judge (second) Masud Ali also fined Tk 20, 000 each of the three convicts, said Additional Public Prosecutor Advocate Gias Uddin.
The court acquitted two defendants as the charges against them were not proved.

The death-row convicts are Fazlur Rahman of Jashore, Dipak Kumar Roy of Thakurgaon and Abu Sufian Mollah of Gopalganj. The fourth man is Joynal Hawlader of Pirojpur district.
Fazlur and Joynal are now fugitives and the rest have been in jail.
According to the case statement, the convicts took away the battery-run vehicle after killing its driver Jahurul Islam on a cropland adjacent to Poranpur Ground in Damurhuda upazila on August 10, 2011.
Later, a case was filed in connection with Damurhuda police station.

Police pressed chargesheet against six people on November 30 of the same year.
After completing legal procedures, the court handed down the judgment on Wednesday.
