A seven-year-old girl was murdered and her elder sister was injured after miscreants attacked them in their house in the Paschim Banshpadua area of Parshuram upazila of Feni on Tuesday afternoon. 

The deceased was identified as Umme Salma Lamia, 7. The injured is Fatema, 12, both daughters of Nurunnabi, a driver by profession.

Shahadat Hossain Khan, officer-in-charge of Parshuram Police Station, confirmed the matter.

According to local councillor Suman, Nurunnabi lived in the house with his two daughters, Lamia and Fatema, from his previous marriage, and his second wife.

The second wife left for Feni at 10 am and Nurunnabi went to work at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. After that, two unidentified men went to the house and asked to open the door, saying electrical work needed to be done.

When the two sisters opened the door, the two men tried to kill both of them. But the elder sister Fatema took shelter in a neighbour’s house next door and was later admitted to Parshuram Hospital after she fainted.

According to locals, the murder happened due to problems in the family. Nabi divorced his first wife, Asyesha, a few days ago. Ayesha alleged that Nurunnabi's second wife killed her daughter Lamia in a planned way.

Necessary legal action will be taken after investigating the matter, said the OC.
