ADB Country Director Manmohan Prakash handed a congratulatory letter of the ADB president over to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office here on Thursday.
In the letter, Takehiko Nakao appreciated Bangladesh's rapid progress in all areas of development over the last 10 years under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He hoped that the development trend will continue in the next five years.
The ADB chief reiterated their commitment to continue ADB's strong support to Bangladesh for its economic development, particularly its efforts for poverty alleviation, socioeconomic development and nation-building activities.
At the meeting, the ADB officials told the Prime Minister that the lending agency will support Bangladesh for introduction of high-speed train and establishment of an IT university.
He said the ADB's assistance for development of the country's road sector and infrastructure will increase in the future.
