Bangladesh will import 1.68 million metric tons (MT) of refined petroleum from six separate state-owned enterprises of 5 countries for the six months from July to December.
Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) in a virtual meeting, with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in chair, approved the proposal and some other proposals for purchase of lentils, soybean and rice bran oil by TCB.

As per the proposal, placed by Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the companies from which state-owned Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will import petroleum are PTTT of Thailand, ENOC of UAE, Petrochina of China, BSP of Indonesia, PTLCL of Malaysia, and UNIPEC of China.
The BPC will have to spend Tk 12,850 crore to import the fuel oil to pay the premium and reference price to the suppliers.
According to offer proposals, approved by the committee, state marketing agency Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) under, the Ministry of Commerce, will import 8,000 MT of lentils from Nabil Naba Foods Ltd., at contract value of Tk 75.59 crore during the fiscal year 2023-2024 through open tender.

The TCB will purchase 8 million litres of soybean oil from Meghna Edible Oils Refinery Ltd., at Tk 131.16 crore during fiscal year 2023-2024 while it will procure 7.5 million litres of rice bran oil from Majumder Products, Majumder Bran Oil Limited, Agro Products Bangladesh Limited and National Agro Mills and Industries Limited at Tk 117.75 crore through direct purchase method (DPM) without tender.
The CCGP approved six separate proposals of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) under the Road Transport and Highways Division.

As per the proposals, the RHD will award a contract of the civil works of WP-01 package of the project “Kewatkhali Bridge Construction in Mymensingh” at Tk 2,137.97 crore to the Joint Venture of (1) CSCEC, China; and (2) Spectra Engineers, Bangladesh.
The RHD will invite re-tender by cancelling the purchase proposal for package WP-04 of “Proper Upgrading of Bogra (Jahangirabad) Nator Highway the project.
The RHD will award the contract for the WP-05 package of the same project to the Joint Venture of (1) Mir Habibul Alam; and (2) Mahbub Brothers Pvt.Ltd., at a contract value of Tk 125.21 crore.

The Construction of lot No. DS-9 of the WP-05 package of the project “SASEC Dhaka-Sylhet Corridor Road Development will be awarded by the RHD to Joint Venture of (1) CPC, China; and (2) CRFG, China for at Tk 1082.14 crore while under separate proposal China Railway First Group Company Ltd., won a contract for “Construction of Lot No. DS-10 of the WP-05 Package of the Project “SAESC Dhaka-Sylhet Corridor Road Development” at Tk 1,422.95 crores.
The Joint Venture of (1) NDE; and (ii) HTBL, Bangladesh, won a Tk.286 crore contract of RHD for “Upgrading of Tangail-Delduar-Lauhati-Saturia-Kawalipara-Kalampur Bus Stand Road” to a regional highway.
