Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized arms, ammunition, drugs and other contraband items worth Tk 157.42 crore during anti-smuggling drives across the country, especially in bordering areas in the month of May.
During this period, the paramilitary force seized 660 grams of gold, 3.370 kgs of silver, 1,22,783 cosmetics, 2,675 pieces of Imitation jewelry, 14,898 sarees, 10,573 three-piece/shirt-piece/bed-sheet/blankets, 1, 321 cft timber, 1,546 kgs of tea leaves, 26,920 kgs of coal, 300 cubic feet stone, 2.471 kgs of snake venom, one touchstone statue, 18 trucks, three pick-up vans, two private car and microbus, one human hauler, 26 boats, 33 CNG-run auto-rickshaw or easy bikes, 89 motorbikes and 34 bi-cycles.

Seized arms include one pistols, 11 guns of several types, one magazine, 3.980 kg gunpowder and 6,910 rounds of bullets.
Other smuggled items include 4,47,827 Yaba pills, 9.422 Kg crystal meth, 10,760 bottles of phensedyl, 22,621 bottles of foreign liquor, 299 bottles of local liquor, 593 cans of beer, 1,503 kg cannabis, 36.352 kg heroin, 2,00,808 injections, 2,911 Eskuf syrups, 8.580 kg of drugs, one kg of opium (Afim) 820 bottles of MkDil/Cofidil, 25,83,661 different types of medicines, 1,68,480 Anegra and Senegra tablets, 11 bottles of LSD and 11,995 other tablets, said a BGB media release issued on Sunday.

Meanwhile, legal action has been taken against 176 smugglers, 73 Bangladeshi nationals, feight Indians and 642 Myanmar nationals for illegally crossing the border during the period, it said.
