The country's apex trade body of apparel manufacturers has underscored the importance of ethical sourcing to ensure a sustainable supply chain and make a positive difference to workers' lives, especially in the context of price drop and increased production costs.
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Faruque Hassan met Peter McAllister, executive director of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), in London on November 12.
They discussed different issues, including how to strengthen supply chain partnerships between the UK and Bangladesh for having a sustainable apparel industry.
BGMEA Vice-President Miran Ali, Director Abdullah Hil Rakib and Shasha Denims Managing Director Shams Mahmud were also present.
