Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday said it is an irony that BNP harbours anti-liberation forces even though it talks about following the values of the 1971 Liberation War.
“BNP talks about secularism, but the party is pally with the communal extremists. There is no similarity between what they say and what they do. They maintain a double standard in their policies and actions,” he said.

Quader’s comments came while he was talking to reporters at his residence.
Replying to a question he said “BNP is so blind and deaf and that’s why they can’t hear that people had rung the bell of their fall long ago,”
Asked about the next general election, the Awami League leader said “Sheikh Hasina led government is always sincere about holding a fair and participatory election.”
He also urged the BNP to take part in the election.

Answering another question Quader, who is also road transport and bridges minister, said the government did not create any obstacle against BNP’s holding programmes in the districts.
It has been a habit of BNP to blame the government for the party’s internal feuding, he said.
