BGB Director General Major General Md Shafeenul Islam is leading the 14-member Bangladesh Delegation while Myanmar’s Chief of Police General Staff Police Brigadier General Myo Than is leading an 8-member delegation in the 7th border talks.
The Bangladesh delegation includes senior BGB officials, as well as officials from the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Narcotics Control.
Notable agendas in this conferences are: Prevention of narcotics / sedatives especially Yaba smuggling, anti-terrorism / counterterrorism activities on the border, illegal entry of Myanmar citizens into Bangladesh, Firing control of Myanmar's BGP and military in bordering areas, handover of people who will trespass international border due to natural disaster or accidentally to both countries' own border guards, exchange of information on border security and law and order, joint patrol on Bangladesh-Myanmar border and providing necessary support during construction of border roads by Bangladesh side, said BGB Headquarters’ Public Relation Officer Md Shariful Islam.
The conference will end after signing of the Joint Record of Discussions (JRD) in the morning of January 8, he added.
