Faridpur district administration on Thursday asked the authorities concerned to install CCTV cameras at every Puja Mandap to ensure security of the Hindu devotees.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Kamrul Ahsan Talukdar gave the order after a preparatory meeting ahead of the Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community.

DC Kamrul said, “We want the Hindu community’s largest festival Durga Puja to end in a smooth and peaceful way. Whatever is needed for the celebration, the district administration and law enforcing agencies will do everything.”
He said that CCTV cameras must be set up at every Puja Mandap along with recruiting own security forces and volunteers. A total of 834 mandaps will be erected in the district this year.
Surveillance by intelligence will remain in place alongside police and ansar members, he said adding any disorder will be tackled strictly.

Chaired by the DC, Superintendent of Police Md Shahjahan, Upazila Nirbahi Officers of nine upazilas, district chapter Awami League President Shamim Huq, General Secretary Ishtiaq Arif, sadar municipality Mayor Amitab Bos and Puja Udjapon Council President Dr Joshoda Jibon Devnath, among others, were present at the meeting held at the conference room of the DC office.
