With the latest figure, the death toll in Bangladesh from the virus rose to 1,997. On June 1, 22 people lost their lives and the numbers kept rising since then.
Another 3,288 new patients were diagnosed with coronavirus during the period, raising the total number to 1,59,679.
The daily infection rate was recorded 22.33 percent on Saturday.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin.
In the last 24 hours, 64 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 14,727 samples, she added. “So far, 8,32,074 tests have been conducted.”
Against the number of total tests since March 8 the infection rate is 19.19 percent in the country, Dr Nasima said.

Across the country, 2,673 more patients made recovery, she said adding that 70,721 people have so far recovered from the disease.
Against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate in Bangladesh is 44.29 percent while the mortality rate 1.25 percent.
Among the new deceased, 21 were male and 8 were female, she said. Since March, 11, 1587 male and 410 female died from Covid-19 in the country.
Dr Nasima presented the overall mortality rate of different age groups since March 11.
“Till date, 0.6 percent of the deceased were below 10 years, 1.20 percent between 11 and 20, 3.51 between 21 and 30, 7.62 percent between 31 and 40, 14.99 percent between 41 and 50, 29.04 percent between 51 and 60 and 43.52 percent were aged above 60,” she said.

Of the deceased who died in the last 24 hours, one was aged between 11 and 20, one between 31 and 40, four between 41 and 50, nine between 51 and 60, 11 between 61 and 70, one between 71 and 80 and two more were aged between 81 and 90.
In the last 24 hours, nine patients died in Dhaka division, four in Chattogram division, seven in Rajshahi division, three in Khulna division, three in Sylhet division, two in Barishal division and one more died in Mymensingh division.“Since March, 11, 1041 people have died in Dhaka division, 521 in Chattogram division, 101 in Rajshahi division, 82 in Khulna division, 67 in Barishal division, 84 in Sylhet division, 53 in Rangpur division, and 48 have died in Mymensingh division,” she added.
In the last 24 hours, 25 people died at hospitals across the country while one died at home. Three patients were declared dead upon arriving at the hospital.
Another 744 people were taken to isolation in the last 24 hours while 242 were released and currently, 16,449 people are in isolation.
During the period, another 2,242 people were home and institutionally quarantined and 1,648 released. At present, 64,150 people are quarantined across the country.
