With the latest figure, the total number of infections rose to 1,96,323. The daily infection rate for Thursday however has dwindled down to 21.2 percent.
The number of deaths from the disease has also climbed up to 2,496 as 39 new patients lost their lives during the period. The mortality rate in the country is 1.27 percent.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Additional Director General Prof Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin broadcasted from Mohakhali.

She noted that RT-PCR labs across the country have so far tested over 9.9 lakh samples. “12,889 tests have been conducted in 80 labs in the last 24 hours.”
Against the total 9,93,291 tests carried out, 19.76 percent people have been confirmed as COVID-19 positive.
Another 1,940 persons have recovered from coronavirus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,06,963.
Nearly 1,100 patients who died from coronavirus as of Thursday were above 60 years.
“Among the deceased, 17 were below 10 years, 29 between 11 and 20 years, 76 between 21 and 30, 176 between 31 and 40, 359 between 41 and 50, 742 between 51 and 60 and 1097 were above 60 years,” Dr Nasima said.
Among the 38 new deceased, 31 were male and eight were female. “Their age-based analysis says, one was below 10 years, one between 11 and 20 years, two between 31 and 40, three between 41 and 50, 12 between 51 and 60, 15 between 61 and 70, four between 71 and 80 and another aged between 81 and 90 years,” she added.
Eighteen patients died in Dhaka division, six in Chattogram division, six in Khulna division, three in Rangpur division, three in Sylhet division, two in Barishal division, and one more died in Rajshahi division.
At present, 18,031 people are in isolation across the country and 60,812 are home and institutionally quarantined.
