Chattogram Customs House seized a huge quantity of foreign products including 60 tonnes of dextrose brought under a false declaration from China to evade around Tk 1.5 crore of government revenue at Chattogram port.
The seizure products included 15 tonnes of powdered milk, one tonne of coffee mate and three tonnes of menthol.

Md Saiful Huq, deputy commissioner of the Chattogram Customs House, said importer GY Trade Pvt. Limited, with an address in Dhaka, earlier declared to import four containers of customs-free Calcium Carbonate (uncoated) from China, said a media release issued on Friday.
But the firm imported the dextrose, powdered milk, coffee mate and menthol from the country by MV Sky Wind vessel under a false declaration to evade the government revenue, it reads.
Suspecting the presence of the unauthorised products, Audit, Investigation and Research wing of the Customs House challenged the containers but the concerned shipping agent decided to Return on Board (ROB) to Singapore i when they came to know about the Customs investigation, according to the release.
At one stage, the Customs House forced the agent to unload the products and found the presence of the unauthorised products through a physical test of the items last Wednesday.
Though it wasn’t known how many quantities of Calcium Carbonate was brought by the import, three tonnes of this item were found in the opened container on Wednesday, it continued.
A legal process was underway to file a case in this connection, it added.
