Saifuddin Ahmed Moni, the general secretary of the Democratic League (DL), passed away on Friday. He was 68.
His elder brother Mainuddin Ahmed said Moni breathed his last around 12 noon while undergoing treatment at Birdem Hospital in Mirpur.
Moni was a confirmed bachelor. He was one of the leaders of Chhatra Oikya formed with various student organisations at Dhaka University during the anti-autocratic movement in the 90s.

After the completion of his student life, Moni joined the Democratic League of Oli Ahmed and later became the general secretary of the party. His party is one of the components of the Jatiyatabadi Samamona Jote which has been carrying out a simultaneous anti-government movement with the BNP.
Mainuddin Ahmed said Moni would be buried at his family graveyard at Maheshpur village of Ishwarganj in Mymensingh after his namaz-e-Janaza there.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to the Hospital after Moni’s demise.
He talked to the relatives of the DL leader and conveyed his sympathy to them.
