DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam came up with the information on the last day of the 10-day drive that has begun on June 6.
On the concluding day, the DNCC found aedes larvae at 160 houses and establishments after visiting 13,368 houses and establishments on Monday.
Besides, stagnant water – the breeding ground of Aedes mosquitoes – was found at 9,035 houses and establishments during the 10th day.
The DNCC mobile courts fined Tk 4.49 lakh and filed 19 cases during the drive.
During the 10-day drive, the DNCC has visited 134,135 houses of establishments and found aedes larvae at 1,601 establishments while found breeding ground of aedes mosquito at 89,626 establishments.
The Aedes larvae were found in abandoned tyres, buckets, flower tubs, bottles, water-meters, garages, water houses, earthenware pots, broken mugs, floors, water-tanks, plastic containers, roof-drains, yogurt pots, abandoned commodes, coconut shells, broken pots, basement and spaces between two houses.
During the operations, the DNCC conducted drives in one sector of each ward every day which means 10 sub-sectors in a day. Each DNCC team is joined by four cleaners and one mosquito eradication worker in each sub-sector. Forty cleaners and 10 mosquito eradication workers are working in each ward.
So far, the authorities concerned realised Tk 24 lakh during this period.
