He urged the animal shops owners to be kind to the pet animals, provide them with food and arrange sufficient light for them.
Local administrations were also directed from the Ministry to take steps in this regard, he said adding “being cruel to pet animals is a criminal offence”.
The government extended the general holidays until April 14 while the markets except the kitchen markets will remain closed to curb the transmission of coronavirus in the country.

Meanwhile, World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday informed that a total of 62,784 people died of COVID-19 globally as of 10:00 CET Sunday.
The number of infections surged to 1,133,758, while the death toll outside China rose to 59,446, it said.
