The anti-mugging drive will continue until Dhaka is free from mugging, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruque said on Tuesday.
“Police will do whatever is needed to free the capital from muggers, no matter how much work is needed,” he said, while talking to reporters after visiting the injured journalist on a private Television, at Pangu Hospital in the city.
A number of mugging incidents occurred during the Eid vacation in the capital and police are now on highest alert to arrest muggers, he added.

The law enforcers have managed to arrest all the muggers involved in the police constable killing case in Farmgate and they were sent to jail, said DMP boss.
Besides, two accused in journalist Rakibul Hasan's mugging case were also arrested and police also seized a knife and a motorbike used in the mugging, he added.

Another accused in the case will be arrested at any time as he is under surveillance of police, said Faruque.
Rakibul in his statement said, among the muggers, one is a driver of Pathao ride sharing services and another one is electrician, said the commissioner.
