Newly appointed Ambassador of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan held a meeting today (January 31, 2024) with the Health Minister of Uzbekistan, Asilbeg Khudayirboev, at his office.
The meeting took place in the presence of high-ranking officials from the Uzbekistan Ministry of Health, according to a press release
Ambassador Islam shed light on Bangladesh's achievements in healthcare services and education, particularly in the context of COVID-19 control, reduction of child and maternal mortality, and the establishment of community clinics. He highlighted various initiatives, steps, and achievements undertaken by the government in these areas, it said.
Emphasizing the advancements in the pharmaceutical sector in Bangladesh, the ambassador discussed the potential for increased collaboration in business and investment between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan. He noted the progress, success, and recognition in the pharmaceutical industry, indicating promising opportunities for commerce and investment between the two countries.
Acknowledging the expertise and capabilities of Bangladeshi healthcare professionals and nurses, the ambassador expressed confidence that they could play a pivotal role in advancing healthcare services in Uzbekistan when needed, said the release.
Furthermore, the ambassador stressed the importance of enhancing collaboration in health education between the two countries, aiming for more impactful and economically viable partnerships.
Minister Asilbeg Khudayirboev expressed gratitude for the historical, cultural, and religious ties between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh. He particularly highlighted Bangladesh's significant contributions in supplying medicines, showcasing a positive attitude toward pharmaceutical imports from Bangladesh.
The Uzbek Health Minister expressed optimism about the proficiency of Bangladeshi doctors, especially in cardiology and neurology, asserting that their knowledge and skills could prove beneficial for Uzbekistan.
He showed keen interest in facilitating exchanges between specialized experts and researchers from both countries.
