Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar on Monday said establishing internet facilities as one of the basic rights to face the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution is a demand of time.
He made the remarks at an online meet the press jointly organised by Prime Bank and Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB).
Jabbar said the government is determined to make internet service easy and available for spreading education in the country.
He also said that internet shouldn’t be categorised as expenditure but an investment for building a meritorious nation and spreading education.
Aiming to provide free internet as books to students, the government has installed free wifi zones at 587 educational institutions across the country, he said.
He also lauded internet service providers for their continuous service during Covid-19 pandemic.
