Miscreants stabbed a former union parishad member to death in Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur last night.
Police have detained seven people over the incident.
The deceased, Jahurul Islam, 50, was a resident of Phuljhor village and was a former member under ward 7 of Jhorkhali union parishad.

Police said miscreants attacked him with sharp weapons while Jahurul was on his way home from a local market on his motorbike around 11 pm, leaving him critically injured.
He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Being informed by locals, a police team led by Madarganj Circle’s ASP Swajal Kumar Sarkar rushed to the spot and took the body to the police station.

Swajal Kumar said they have already detained seven suspects and a process is underway to file a case in this connection.
The body will be sent to Jamalpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy, the police officer added.
