A delegation of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the apex body of the country’s businesspeople, on Friday paid tributes to the father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through placing floral wreaths and offering prayers.
The delegation led by its President Mahbubul Alam paid the homage at the graveyard of Bangabandhu in Tungipara of Gopalganj on Friday noon, said a media release sent from the FBCCI.
The business leaders observed a silence for a while to pay respect to the memory of the 15 August martyrs including Bangabandhu and his family members and prayed for the salvation of their departed souls.
Newly elected FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam said, “Today we obtained the country because of Bangabandhu. Many of us are owners of banks, big industrialists and proprietors of different organisations.”
“Bangladesh is now on the way to a trillion dollar economy from zero and it was not possible once the country had not been liberated, hence we are grateful to Bangabandhu,” he said.
The FBCCI leader said, “Bangabandhu gave us a free territory, her daughter Sheikh Hasina gave economic emancipation and the prime minister has relentlessly been working to implement Sonar Bangla dreamt by Bangabandhu and exports of conventional and non-conventional products increased.”
The delegation included FBCCI’s former President and Chairman to Awami League’s Industry and Business Affairs Sub Committee Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, Member Secretary Md Siddiqur Rahman, the trade body’s former President Sheikh Fazle Fahim, the incumbent committee’s Senior Vice President Md Amin Helaly and Vice President Khairul Huda Chopol among others.
