At least 15 shops were gutted in a major fire that broke out at a market in Brahmanbari's Sarail upazila in the small hours on Friday.
No casualties were reported.
Locals said the fire broke out at a shop in a Tin shed Market owned by Nesar Doctor in Shahbajpur II Gate area of Shahbajpur Union of the upazila around 3:30am and it soon engulfed the adjoining shops.
On information, two fire tenders were pressed into service and it took them nearly two hours to bring the flames under control, said Riaz Ahmed, station officer of Sarail Fire Service and Civil Defense.
