The flood situation in low-lying areas along the Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers in Kurigram district may somewhat deteriorate, the Flood Forecasting Warning Centre forecasted on Sunday.
The Teesta, Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers in the northern region of the country may rise at times and as a result, the Teesta river may flow above danger level for short duration over 24 hours, it said.
The Brahmaputra River is in a falling trend while the Jamuna River is in steady state. Water levels in both the rivers may fall slowly over 72 hours.
The Ganges-Padma are in a rising trend, which may continue in 48 hours.
All the rivers in the north-eastern region of the country are in an overall falling trend, which may continue over 72 hours.
According to the information from the Met Office, medium to heavy rainfall is expected in the northern region and adjoining upstream parts of the country over 24 hours.
Flood situation in some low-lying places along the Brahmaputra-Jamuna in Kurigram, Jamalpur, Gaibandha, Bogura, Tangail and Sirajganj districts may improve.
The water level of Jamunashwari, Karatoa, Bangali, Upper Karatoya, Punarbhava, Tangon, Ichamati-Jamuna, Atrai and Mahananda rivers in the northern and northwestern parts of the country may rise over 24 hours.
The Atrai River at Baghabari point may increase and the Ghagot River at Gaibandha point may fall. As a result, the flood situation in Sirajganj district along the low-lying areas of Atrai may deteriorate slightly and the flood situation in Gaibandha district along the low-lying areas of Ghagot River may improve.
The flood situation in the low-lying areas of the northeastern region may improve over 72 hours.
