A shoe factory at Najirabazar in Old Dhaka caught fire on Saturday.
The fire broke out around 5:30 pm on the second floor of a 10-storey building behind Tyeba Hotel, said Shahjahan Sikder, Deputy Assistant Director (media cell) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.
Six units of firefighters were working to put out the fire but they brought it under control at 6:10 pm, he said.
Shahjahan said the firefighters are trying to douse the flame completely.
Luckily, he said, there was no casualty in the fire.
It is still not clear what actually caused the fire, said Shahjahan.
