A one-minute symbolic 'blackout' was observed on Friday night throughout the country to remember the 1971 genocide victims.
However, the key point installations (KPIs) and other essential establishments remained out of the purview of the programme.
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs took the initiative to observe the blackout at 9pm recalling the massacre launched by Pakistani Army on the unarmed Bengali population on the black night of March 25 in 1971 under the infamous "Operation Searchlight".
According to the ministry, no lighting will be allowed on the night of March 25.
