Police recovered the hanging bodies of a woman and her two children from an apartment in Mohammadpur residential area under Panchlaish police station on Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as Sumita Khatun and her two children Jannat Moon,7, and Shan,2.
Police detained Sumita’s husband, Sohel Rana, for interrogation in this regard.
Being informed by Sohel himself around 9 am, police broke open the door of the flat and found Sumita and Shan’s bodies hanging from the ceiling while Jannat’s body lying on the bed beside them, said Jahedul Kabir, officer-in-charge of the Panchlaish police station.

According to Sohel, he found the door locked from inside on his return home from work around 9pm on Thursday and no one responded as he knocked on the door repeatedly.
Being suspicious that there might be something wrong, he called friends and family members, and they all tried to open the door overnight and later in the morning he informed the police, the OC quoted him as saying.
Saiful Islam, a sub-inspector of the police station, said an investigation has been launched in this regard to know how actually did it happen.

“We’ve detained Sohel Rana for interrogation and he claimed his wife and children have committed suicide,” said the SI.
