The accused teacher is Sekandar Ali, headmaster of Joari High School.
Officer-in-charge of Boraigram Police Station Dilip Kumar Das said Sekandar Ali had asked the students to trim their long hair few days back but most of the students did not follow his instruction.
Being agitated, the headmaster went to the classes of VII to X with a pair of scissors on Sunday and randomly cut off hair of around 50 students, he said.
During the act, several students were also injured after being hit by the scissors, the OC added.
The incident sparked an outrage among locals while Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Anwar Parvez went to the spot and suspended the headmaster.
A three-member committee was formed to investigate the matter and it was asked to submit its report within three working days, said the OC.
