Marking the day, the teachers and officers, led by its Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, brought out a procession from in front of the administrative building around 11:30am.
The procession ended at the feet of ‘Mrittunjoyee Mujib’ mural adjacent to the university main entrance area after parading through the campus.
Among others, Pro-VC Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha, acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif, IUTA President Prof Dr M Kazi Akther Hossain, IU Shapla Forum President Professor M Rezuanul Islam and its General Secretary Professor M Mahbubur Rahman took part in the procession.
The university authorities paid rich tribute to the father of the nation by placing floral wreath at Mrittunjoyee Mujib mural.
Later, IU Bangabandhu Bandhu Parisad placed floral wreath led by its President Professor Ruhul KM Saleh.
A discussion programme was also held on the importance and significance of Bangabandhu’s historic 7th march speech.
