Democracy International (DI) brought 39 central-level political leaders from Awami League (AL), BNP and Jatiya Party (JaPa) for their achievements in championing peaceful and participatory elections at the award-giving function.
Since the launch of the āShantite Bijoyā campaign, the leaders have paved the way for party leaders and activists to participate in constructive multiparty events across Bangladesh, including peace rallies, face-to-face dialogues between candidates and voters, multiparty roundtable meetings, and workshops to address citizensā issues, said the DI.
BNP standing committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan said peace requires social and political justice. āThe political parties of Bangladesh should break down the political divides and engage in constructive debates to resolve their issues.ā
Jatiya Party presidium member Ziauddin Bablu said they are learning the democracy-building process. āThereās some good progress and hopefully weāll continue to improve all the aspects of our democracy.ā
