A man allegedly slaughtered his wife with sharp weapons over a family feud in Bagatipara upazila of Natore early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sufia Begum, 35, wife of one Asmat Ali of Hapania village under the upazila.
Quoting locals and relatives, Bagatipara police station’s Officer-in-Charge Nannu Khan said there had long been a dispute between the couple over family issues.
Early in the morning, the husband slaughtered the wife and left the house with his minor daughter, he said.

When fleeing, accused Asmat Ali informed his brother’s son, who resides in a separate house of the same village, saying over mobile phone that an issue developed in the house and asked to come, the OC said.
The nephew spotted the body lying in the house, he said, adding that being informed they recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
