Asked about CPD’s statement that there was no incentive for the maginalised people, the minister asked, “What exactly is their research?”
He was speaking over contemporary issues at the political office of Awami League chief at Dhanmondi.
Mahmud said more than five million families are getting a kilogram of rice at Tk 10 in the seven months of a year. Actually, 25 million people are being benefitted by this scheme. Now the government is thinking of extending the time limit for the aid project.
In addition, about 10 million people, including 1.7 million widows, 4.4 million elderly people, and 1.6 million poor are getting various allowances on regular basis.
Besides, Tk 760 crore along with other relief materials were allocated for those people who are jobless due to Covid-10 pandemic, said the minister.

“All these are for the marginalised and poor people. But it was surprising that the CPD research did not mention these,” he said.
Awami League Office Secretary Biplob Barua, Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana and Deputy Department Secretary Sayem Khan, among others, were present.
