It has been organised at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) as part of a project to enhance Bangla language in ICT through research and development.
Inaugurating the conference, SUST Vice-Chancellor Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed said it would be possible to help protect the mother tongue from distortion by conducting research on Bangla language properly.
“People of Bangladesh sacrificed their lives for Bangla language but the prestige of the language cannot be safeguarded. Particularly, distortion of Bangla language in the FM radio stations is one of the causes of distortion which is a matter of great concern,” he pointed out.
He hoped that there would not be any shortage of fund for research.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal said university teachers must come forward for conducting research and development of the mother language utilising government grant.
Among others, SUST Treasurer Prof Anwarul Islam Dipu, Prof Yasmin Haque, Chairman of CSE Department of SUST Dr Reza Selim and teachers and students from the local and foreign universities were present at the programme.
