The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Environment, Forests and Climate Change Ministry on Thursday has suggested for taking stern action for preventing illegal sand extraction in Cox's Bazar to protect the forest areas of the country.
The committee discussed the matter at its 31st meeting at the parliament chaired by its chairman Saber Hossain Chowdhury.
The committee also suggested for taking necessary steps for issuing notices to various types of hotels, motels, resorts which were built violating the rules.
Besides, the committee recommended enforcement of the existing laws to prevent wildlife trafficking and taking necessary steps to end the transit system to prevent trafficking.
Committee members Environment, Forest and Climate deputy minister Habibun Nahar, Tanvir Shakil Joy, Zafar Alam and Khodeja Nasreen Akhtar were present at the meeting.
