Planning minister MA Mannan on Monday said the killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were never recognised as heroes.
"Some misguided armed force members expressed their cheerfulness after killing Bangabandhu. They thought their mission will help them recognise as heroes. But now they are considered as the traitors and culprits," he said.

He made the statement at a discussion and doa mahfil on the occasion of the National Mourning Day organised by the Institute of Chartered Accounts of Bangladesh ( ICAB) at its auditorium in the city.
Mannan said the killers did not understand the intensity of the popularity of Bangabandhu. The ideals of the Father of Nation is still being practised in independent Bangladesh with due respect.
President of ICAB Md. Moniruzzaman delivered welcome speech while senior journalist Ajit Kumar Sarkar presented the keynote speech.

ICAB President Moniruzzaman said Bangabandhu dreamt of establishing a country free of hunger and poverty and tried hard till his last breath.
"It is our duty to implement the dream of Bangabandhu through our activities by ensuring accuracy, accountability and establishing good governance in everyone's respective areas," he said.
Chief Executive Officer of ICAB Subasish Basu while vice-president of ICAB MBM Lutul Hadi thanked the participants.
