Chattogram, June 3 (UNB) – A court here on Monday placed Ripon Nath, the lone accused in a case filed over the killing of listed criminal Amit Muhuri inside the Chattogram Central Jail, on a five-day remand.
Chattogram Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohiuddin Murad passed the order when Detective Branch of police Inspector Abdul Aziz, also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.
On May 29 last, Amit Muhuri, a prisoner and a listed criminal, was killed in an attack allegedly by his cellmate Ripon Nath at Chattogram Central Jail over a trifling matter.
Later, jailer Nasir Ahmed filed a case with Kotwali Police Station on May 30.
Ripon, hailing from Sitakunda upazila, landed in jail a few days ago a criminal case, police said.
