Karnaphuli Paper Mills (KPM) is producing disinfectant bleach to keep its production flow running by ensuring health protection of the factory officials, employees and workers amid COVID-19 outbreak.
After meeting its own demand, KPM plans to supply bleach to other organisations, said a press release on Sunday.
KPM has started the production of bleach as per the instruction of the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) under the Industries Ministry.
KPM's Managing Director engineer Dr MMA Quader said KPM is currently producing paper from imported pulp and recycled paper.

He said a maximum of 5,785 metric tonnes of paper has been produced till May 9 of the current financial year in last three years.
In 2016-17 and 2018-19 financial years, the amount of paper production was 3,182 and 535MTrespectively. If production activities could be continued, 7,500 to 8,000 MT of paper could be produced in the current financial year.
