A local Juba League leader from Shariatpur died of dengue on Saturday.
Khalil, 25, was the son of Rafiqul Islam Kazi and served as the relief and disaster management affairs secretary for the Shariatpur Union Juba League.
He died on the way to Dhaka Medical Hospital.
Ripon Sardar, chairman of Gosairhat Union Parishad, said Khalil had been receiving treatment for dengue at a private hospital in Dhaka for two weeks but had returned home a few days prior.
Unfortunately, his condition worsened on Saturday, leading to his death around 10 am during the journey to the hospital.
Meanwhile, two more deaths due to dengue were reported in the 24 hours leading up to Saturday morning, raising the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 271 this year.
