A crazed mob lynched a 35-year-old man to death after allegedly catching him red-handed with stolen cattle in Chhounpur village under Sadar upazila of Magura early Friday.
Kazal Miah was son of Rokman Munshi of Azampur village under the same upazila.
Sadar police station’s officer–in-charge Sekandar Ali said the mob caught him in the Chhounpur village around 3:30 am while returning from the upazil’s Sheikhpara village with stolen cattle.
Later, the mob gave him a good thrashing leaving critically injured, he said.
Though the victim then was rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 8:30 am while undergoing treatment there, the OC said.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection, he said, adding that the deceased was an accused of cattle lifting.
