A mild heatwave is sweeping through the districts of Khulna, Mongla, Satkhira, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kumarkhali, Rajshahi and Pabna.
The heatwave spell may continue, the weather department said Monday.
The highest temperature today was recorded at 37.5 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi and Chuadanga districts, while the minimum temperature was 21.5 degrees in Rangpur's Sayedpur.
However, a reprieve from the sweltering summer heat is on the way in parts of the country. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted showers in the eight divisions in the next 24 hours.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over northern part of the country, it said.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged, the BMD added.
