The celebration of the day will begin with brining out a colourful rally from Manik Miah Avenue at 8:00am which will end at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city, said a press release.
The EC will organise a discussion at BICC at 3:00pm. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq will be the chief guest at the discussion.
Bangladesh Television will telecast a special programme highlighting the significance and relevance of the Voter Day at 7:35pm on Monday.
Besides, EC’s regional offices, district and upazila-level offices have chalked out different programmes to mark the National Voter Day 2020.
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda in a message said the goal of the voter day is to ensure participation of people in the electoral process through strengthening and upholding democracy in Bangladesh as well as encouraging the common people to exercise their franchise.
In January last, the Cabinet meeting decided to observe the National Voter Day on March 2 instead of March 1 every year.
