A Natore court on Tuesday sent two BNP men, including District BNP convenor Shahidul Islam Bacchu, to jail in a case filed over a clash between BNP and AL activists that erupted during a sit-in programme of BNP.
Natore Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Rowshan Alam passed the order after rejecting their bail petitions, said advocate Ruhul Amin Talukder Togar.
RAB arrested Shahidul Islam Bachchu and Zahiruddin on Monday night and handed them over to police in a case filed in connection with the clash.
At least 30 people were injured during the clash.
Later, a case was filed against 176 BNP leaders and activists in connection with the clash.
As part of the ongoing simultaneous movement, the BNP, its associate bodies and like-minded parties observed a two-hour sit-in protest in all divisional cities and district towns on Saturday (April 1, 2023) to press home their 10-point demand, including holding the next general election under a non-party caretaker government.
