It has also taken security measures to ensure foolproof security to the mourning procession.
The decisions were taken at a coordination meeting at the DMP headquarters on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended, among others, by senior DMP officials, representatives of intelligence agencies and different government organisations, and Shia community leaders.
Holy Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), will be observed in the country on September 10.
The celebrations of Ashura will formally begin around 2pm on September 7 and end on September 10 through various ceremonies, including the mourning procession of Shia community members from Imambara Hosseini Dallan.
At the meeting, DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said no pike will be allowed to take part in the Tajia procession.
The use of all kinds of sharp weapons, metals, flammable objects, bags, pots, sticks, knives, swords and fireworks is also prohibited during the mourning procession, he said, adding that those cannot be used even with clothing.
The DMP chief urged the Shia community leaders to follow certain guidelines, including designated route and deadline of the mourning procession.
Organisers will have to ensure so that no pike takes part in the Tajia procession and the height of flag in the procession cannot exceed 12 feet, he said.
Adequate CC cameras will have to be installed to monitor the overall situation, Asaduzzaman said.
No one from different streets will be allowed to enter the procession halfway. To participate in the procession, all must go to the beginning point, he said.
Before entering the mourning procession, all must go through archways and metal detectors and body search, the DMP commissioner said. “No one can be allowed to enter the procession without the body search. In that case, sufficient volunteers should be kept ready.”
