Powerful seasonal storms destroyed at least 250 houses and damaged two educational institutions in Bhola’s Lalmohon and Charfesson upazilas on Wednesday night.
Five people were injured after trees fell on them.
A storm hit Lalmohon upazila’s Paschim Charumed, Romaganj and Lord Hardinge unions around 10:30pm, damaging houses in 10 villages. Another storm hit Charfesson upazila’s Nil Komol, Nurabad, Aminabad and Aslampur unions.
Power lines snapped during the storm disrupted power supply for more than 12 hours.
Nurunnabi Chowdhury, the MP from Bhola-3 constituency, visited the affected areas on Thursday morning and provided the affected families cash and relief materials.
He said more assistance will be provided for repairing the damaged houses.
Lalmohon Upazila Nirbahi Officer Habibul Hasan Rumi said they are preparing a list of affected families.
