SCBA President AM Amin Uddin said they are scrutinising the loan applications.
“We decided to provide the loans on April 14 and so far over 2,000 applications were submitted,” he said.
SCBA Secretary Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajal said association members will get interest-free loans for three years tenure. “We’ll try our best to help our members,” he said.
The Supreme Court remained closed since March 24. It extended the leave until May 5.
A general holiday was declared from March 26 to contain the spread of the virus. All non-essential services were shut, bringing economic activities to a grinding halt. The holiday was later extended to May 5. It will likely be stretched further if the situation does not improve.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8. On Wednesday, the health authorities confirmed detection of 641 new cases in the past 24 hours.
