He made the call during a meeting with newly elected executive committee of the Forum for Energy Reporters Bangladesh (FERB) at the Power Division on Thursday.
The state minister said benefit of the development in the country’s energy and power sector should reach people through a coordinated effort. “Reporters can help government in this regard,” he added.
FERB chairman Arun Karmaker led the delegation while other members of the committee -- vice-chairmen Mozahirul Haque Rumen, executive director Shamim Jahangir, director (development and finance) Lutfar Rahman Kakon, director (research and training) Mahfuz Mishu, director (data bank) Shahed Siddiqui, director (welfare) Serajul Islam Shiraj, members Mollah Amzad Hossain, Sadrul Hasan, Shahnaj Begum and Mamun-ur-Rashid -- were present on the occasion.
Nasrul Hamid said reporters should have the opportunity to participate in training programmes at home and abroad to improve their efficiency and gather more knowledge about technologies in the power and energy sector.
Any physical visit to infrastructures and mines can help reporters prepare their reports more accurately, he said.
