Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has visited mobile financial service provider Nagad's technology partner Paytm's stall at the G-20 Summit in India.
She looked over Paytm and learned about its UPI during her participation at the G-20 Summit in Delhi at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
At that time, Paytm officials apprised the prime minister of how important the contribution of mobile financial transactions is to uplift Bangladesh’s economy as well as build a cashless society, according to a press release on Saturday.
India’s Paytm is currently providing technical support to Nagad Ltd with the intent of making digital transactions more secure for customers, it said.
Hasina on Saturday joined world leaders at the G-20 summit being held at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Earlier, upon her arrival at the venue, she was welcomed by Modi.
Under the theme "One Earth, One Family, One Future", with the presidency of India, Prime Minister Sheikha Hasina and other world leaders at this year’s summit will discuss and find solutions to a number of important global issues, such as digital transformation, climate finance, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), food security, the socioeconomic impacts of the Russia-Ukraine war, and the capacity building of multilateral development banks, the release also said.
