The injured students are Naima Akhtar and Taslima Khatun of second year.
Students who failed in the second test for English 1st and 2nd paper were not allowed to sit for the board exam by the principal of the college Motiur Rahman.
When those students requested the principal to lift the bar, which happened to be while he was tending his garden, Motiur at one stage began cursing them and struck the girls with the handle of a shovel.
Md Kamrul Hasan, on-duty medical officer at the emergency ward of Sunamganj Sadar Hospital, said the girls have swollen injury marks on their leg and waist.
Md Shahidur Rahman, officer (acting) of Sadar police station went to see the injured girls at the hospital and said police will start investigating once a complaint is lodged.
Denying the allegation, Motiur Rahman claimed the students got hurt while creating a ruckus after they failed in the test and put the blame on him.
