Rail communications between Dhaka and the rest of the country resumed at 11:00 pm tonight, confirmed Dhaka Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ferdous Ahmed, following a collision between a train and a bus at Malibagh level crossing.
Earlier in the evening, Panchgar-bound Drutojan Express hit a Shohagh Paribahan bus at Malibagh Rail crossing causing it to suspend Dhaka’s rail connection with the rest of the country.
According to witnesses, the gatemen forgot to close the boom gate at Malibagh rail crossing, meanwhile, the bus got on the rail. Later the train which was pacing slowly hit the bus on the back.
No one was injured in the collision as there were no passengers on the bus at the time, Syedpur Railway Police assistant sub-inspector and in-charge of Drutojaan's security Aminul Islam said.
