A Dhaka court on Thursday framed charges against seven BNP leaders and activists including its Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in police constable Shahmim murder case filed around eight years back.
Acting judge of Dhaka Additional 4th Metropolitan Sessions Judge Bilkis Akter passed the order.
The trail in the case began with the framing of charges, said defendant’s lawyer Syed Joynul Mejbah.

The other accused are BNP’s Joint Secretary General Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel, activists Mohammad Hossain, Abdus Sattar, Shah Alam, Anwar Hosstain Tipu and Alfas alias Abbas.
According to the case statement, petrol bombs were hurled targeting a police van in Matshya Bhaban area of Dhaka on January 17, 2015 on the 12th day of blockade enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
The attack on the vehicle left 13 police members injured.

Of them, injured Shamim died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital the following day.
A case was filed with Ramna police station in this regard on January 18.
The investigation officer of the case Md Ali Akkas, also a CID inspector, submitted chargesheet on July 14, 2016.
