Vehicular movement on Dhaka-Tangail highway remained suspended for four hours today as workers of five garment factories blocked roads demanding salary hike at Telirchala in Mouchak of Gazipur city.
Shahidul Islam, inspector of Mouchak Police Station, said workers of the Purbani Group garment factory brought out a procession in the area and held a demonstration at Telirchala at 10 am demanding a minimum salary of Tk 23,000 m.

Later, workers of four factories including Hydroxide Sweater Factory and SPS Apparels expressed solidarity with them.
On information, police rushed to the spot and used tear gas to disperse them.
The workers hurled brick chips targeting police.
