In Magura, a ‘Nosimon’ driver and passenger were killed while three were injured when a truck hit the motorized rickshaw from behind in the Katakhali area of the district.
The deceased were identified as Arjun Akhikary, 30, the ‘Nosimon’ driver and passenger Motaleb Ali, 55.
Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Magura police station, said the accident occurred when two ‘Nosimons’ going to Arpara from Magura sadar upazila were struck from behind by a speeding truck at 6pm, leaving the two dead on the spot.
The three injured persons were admitted to the Magura Hospital in a critical condition.
A case was filed in this regard with the Magura police station, he added.
In Chandpur, a businessman and a child were killed in two separate accidents.
A businessman died and the driver was injured when an auto-bike overturned at Baganbari area of Motlob upazila in the district.
The deceased was identified as Khorshed Alam Bepari, 38, son of late Harun ur Rashid hailing from Lodher Gaon village in Shah Mahmudpur union of Chandpur sadar upazila. He was a cattle trader by profession.
Locals rescued the two injured in the accident when the auto-bike going to Sreerayer Char packed with seven goats lost control and overturned and took them to Motlob Health Complex. Khorshed Alam was shifted to Chandpur Government General Hospital as his condition was critical but was declared dead by on-duty doctors upon arrival there.
Palash Barua, SI of Chandpur model police station, sent the body to morgue for autopsy. A case was filed in this regard.
In another accident, Arafat, 4, son of Asheque Ali of Chandina Nababpur village, was killed when he was struck by a bus of Surma Poribohon on the road adjacent to Nurul Azad College in Kochua upazila while going to his grandfather’s house with his mother.
Confirming the incident, Md Waliullah, officer-in-charge of Kochua police station said the bus was seized and a case was filed over this accident.
In Sirajganj, a child was killed when he was crushed under the wheels of a dump-truck at Piyarapur village of Ullapara upazila in the district.
The deceased was identified as Julhak Ali, 9, son of Abdul Aziz of Piyarapur village.
Julhak died on the spot when a dump-truck used to remove earth ran over him at noon.
Confirming the incident, Mir Shaheen Parvez, officer-in-charge of Ullapara model police station, said the body was sent to the morgue of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital in Sirajganj and a case was filed in this regard.
In Gazipur, three people including a mother and her daughter were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG auto-rickshaw on the Kapashia-Khirati road in Chalabazaar area.
The deceased were identified as Hena, her daughter Mansura, both residents of Barishab area, and Jibon, hailing from Boromi.
According to police, the three died on the spot when a bus going to Dhaka collided with the CNG auto-rickshaw while one injured person was sent to the hospital.
Police managed to seize the bus.
